But what we really want you to know is that making time for your marriage, even in a busy season, is the best thing you can do for your vocation. We often buy into this idea that our kids should come before anything else and that we need to devote all our time to them. We think we'll have time to work on our marriage later and that it will be waiting for us. A broken ankle doesn't get better by ignoring it and getting to it later. Likewise, if your marriage is strained, it deserves your attention now. It won't get any better by ignoring the issues and waiting for later. Making time for your marriage is the first step.
Q2: What if my spouse isn't interested in joining?
We hear this often, and while it can feel discouraging, it's actually a huge opportunity for growth. The Heart of Abundant is designed to bring transformation, even if only one spouse starts the journey! Yes. Really. Often, when one person begins to change--especially with tools that encourage positivity, connection and understanding--it inspires the other to join. We've seen this happen time and time again.
Q3: What if I'm not Catholic (or my spouse isn't)?
We have worked with MANY husbands, wives, and couples who are not Catholic. We love you!
While The Heart of Abundant is completely Catholic and we don't hide or "water down" what the Catholic Church teaches, non-Catholic we have worked with tell us that they feel very comfortable in the Abundant course from which this is taken.
Non-Catholics feel comfortable with this course because it is so grounded in practical skills, habits and tools to help you grow in your connection.
Q4: Our marriage is okay, so is this course necessary?
Absolutely! The Heart of Abundant isn't just for marriages in crisis; it's for any couple who wants to deepen their connection with each other and bring the grace of Christ more deeply into their marriage.

Hi! We are Nathan and Sarah Bartel
We've been happily married for 25+ years. We're best friends, lovers, adventurers, and homeschooling parents of five on a mission to spread joy in marriage.
We didn't always feel peace, joy and connection in our own marriage. We've dealt with unemployment, post-partum depression, anxiety, burnout, frustration, and emotional roller coasters.
We've always loved an accepted the Church's teachings. But we realized that knowing those teachings isn't enough. We had to learn practical ways to live out those teachings in our everyday life!
